In Memory of Daniel Blejer
In Memory of Daniel Blejer
Daniel Naftali ben Tzvi
July 7, 1951 - January 2, 2004
We mourn the loss of Daniel Blejer (z"l) -- a wonderful husband, devoted father, and very dear friend. Danny passed away just before sundown on Friday, January 2, 2004 (8 Tevet 5764), at the age of 52,  after tragically being stricken with Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (CJD), a very rare neurological disease.

Danny's beautiful smile, generous spirit, and sharp sense of humor will be terribly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues from all around the world.

Memorial Contributions

It is a Jewish custom to make charitable donations in memory of a person who has died. It is not the custom to send flowers. In Danny's memory, the Blejer family is establishing a fund for science education at the Gesher Day School (Ariella and Michael's alma mater). Contributions may be sent to:
Gesher Day School
Attn: Michelle Malet
8900 Little River Tpke
Fairfax, VA 22031

Contributions may also be sent to the Community Hospice of Washington, whose  staff provided wonderful care and comfort to Danny in his last months:
Community Hospice of Washington

Washington, D.C. 20016
About CJD

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a fatal brain-deteriorating disease for which there is no treatment or cure. Most scientists believe CJD is caused by a prion, which is an abnormal isoform of a host-encoded protein (a protein based molecule with no RNA or DNA).
